Adoption candidates must have the ability to care for the companion in the following manner:
· Give food and water daily
· Provide a place that allows for regular eliminating
· Possess the ability and willingness to cleaning up after pooping and peeing.
· Possess the ability and willingness to provide exercise on a regular basis.

Potential candidates must:
· Fill out an adoption questionnaire.
· Allow a Canine Companion staff member access to Foster Parent’s residence for an adoption assessment.
· Be willing to accept the type and size of dog the Canine Companion staff member recommends based on the ability to care for and living situation.
· Interact with adoption candidate prior to adoption approval.
· Allow canine adoption candidate and Canine Companion staff member to spend time at the Foster Parent’s residence periodically prior to taking custody of the animal.
· Provide a healthy and loving environment for their companion.
· Maintain updated vaccinations and cover all required veterinarian expenses.
· Have a plan in place should they become unable to continue their adoption commitment.
· The Foster Parent is responsible for the cost of feeding and maintaining a good quality of life for their Canine Companion.
